30 Million Dollars!
How Difficult Is “Thirty Million Dollars”?
Actually, it’s not easy. Especially if you are a native speaker of Mandarin or another language that does not include the sounds /l/, /r/, /n/, or /th/. Then, add an “s” sound to the end of the phrase, and you’ve got seven trouble spots in just these three words: thirty million dollars. Students need to build the muscle memory to pronounce these more challenging sounds, and our B-Speak! teachers work patiently with them to do this.
Yes, thirty million dollars is actually pretty difficult. But with practice, it can be done! Here’s a little video in which a few Speak! instructors, students and friends provide some pronunciation inspiration, and maybe a chuckle, or two.
